The Dawson County Historical Society and Museum has expanded its museum campus to include a new addition and several historic buildings, including the Willow Island Union Pacific Train Depot, a 1903 Baldwin Locomotive #485, the Fairhaven Baptist Church and a log cabin.
Currently the museum staff is working on a “Mainstreet” exhibit that will consist of a home display and business displays from the early 1900’s in Dawson County, Nebraska. We are in the process of building 14 movable dividing walls.
The Dawson County Historical Society maintains a research library and archive in our museum in Lexington. Our research and reference collection contains a wide array of historical books, photographs, and other records from Dawson County and the surrounding region.
